Lucille P. Butler Scholarship Fund

What is the Lucille P. Butler Scholarship Fund?

The Lucille P. Butler Scholarship Fund has been established for needy African American students majoring in accounting at an accredited 4-year college or university to be used for tuition and books.  Two students will be awarded the sum of $5000 each  on a onetime basis only.  $2500 will be awarded at the beginning of the s ophomore, junior or senior  semester and the remaining $2500 will be awarded at the beginning of the second semester, sophomore, junior or senior  year. 

Who is eligible?

Any African American undergraduate student (sophomore through senior) who meets the following criteria:

  • Registers and maintains full time student status
  • Completes a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Has a 2.50 GPA or higher each semester, based on a 4.0 scale
  • Is a Massachusetts resident
  • Is an accounting major
  • Is a U.S. citizen

If selected, what are the student's responsibilities?

  • Complete all classes as a full time student each semester
  • Maintain a 2.50 GPA or higher based on a 4.0 scale
  • Schedule at least one meeting with a Lucille P. Butler Scholarship Fund
  • representative.
  • Complete a volunteer project with the NAACP
  • Become a member of the NAACP College Chapter or Boston Branch.
